Radiation protection

Liechtenstein has close ties with Switzerland in the area of radiation protection on the basis of the customs treaty dating back to 1923. In December 2010, the agreement between the Government of the Principality of Liechtenstein and the Swiss Federal Council on cooperation in the field of radiation protection came into force. Annex 1 of the exchange of notes lists the Swiss legislation currently applicable in Liechtenstein, Annex 2 lists the authorities responsible for supervision and enforcement.

Total revision of the ordinances on radiation protection

Radiation protection legislation protects the population from the dangers of ionizing radiation. With the total revision of the ordinances on radiation protection, Switzerland has adapted the legislation to new scientific findings, technical developments and international guidelines. The corresponding ordinances entered into force on January 1, 2018, and are applicable in Liechtenstein due to the above-mentioned exchange of notes.
