Name change after a divorce
According to the Act of 17 December 1998 on the Amendment of the Marriage Act (LGBl. 1999 No. 28, 3rd section, Art. 66), the spouse whose surname was changed at the time of marriage has the right (in accordance with the transitional provisions) after the judgment declaring divorce to declare to the Liechtenstein Civil Registry Office that he or she will resume the ancestral name or the name he or she bore before the marriage.
The family names of the children are not affected by the name changes in this sense.
Whoever wishes to resume his or her former name after the divorce has become final, should please contact the Liechtenstein Civil Registry Office to arrange an appointment for the name change. The cost of a name change is CHF 100.00.
