Voluntary school sport sees itself as a link between compulsory school sport and voluntary club sport. The aim of school sports is to offer as many children and young people as possible an additional exercise program in their familiar school environment and thus motivate them to take part in club sports. For 5 to 10-year-olds, these are polysportive courses (J+S-Kids Kindersport), for 11 to 20-year-olds they are sport-specific courses.
