Peddling licenses

General information

Anyone who offers goods for sale or order to private households without being called requires a permit from the Office of Economic Affairs. Non-profit or similar associations operating and based in Liechtenstein that do not pursue an Economic Affairs Division purpose are exempt from the licensing requirement.

Requirements

The following documents must be submitted to the Office of Economic Affairs with the application form for permits to trade in goods in transit:

  • Copy of ID or passport (the document must be valid)
  • Valid identity card for the itinerant trade
  • Criminal record extract (original, not older than 3 months)
  • a current proof of residence (not older than one year)
  • current extract from the commercial register (certified, not older than 3 months) if the applicant is not self-employed

Permit

The permit is personal and non-transferable. The goods permitted for trade are listed exhaustively. It must be carried at all times and presented on request to the consumers visited and to the state and municipal control authorities.

The application must be submitted to the Office of Economic Affairs, P.O. Box 684, Vaduz, no later than one week before peddling begins.

Time restrictions

Trading in goods on the move is prohibited

  • in the period from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m.; and
  • on Sundays and public holidays.

Fees

The fees are calculated as follows:

  • Basic fee of CHF 50 for the issue of an ID card
  • Additional CHF 30 per day according to the period of validity of the ID card.

Goods excluded from trading

All goods whose trade is subject to a special permit or concession or which are subject to special control in the interests of public safety, health protection, the Bureau of Consumer Protection, consumer protection or Environmental Protection, as well as animals, may not be offered for sale or order to private households on a roving or uncalled basis.
