Beaver
Round two centuries after its extinction, the beaver has returned to the Liechtenstein valley area, claims various stretches of water and actively shapes its habitat. With its digging and damming activities, it can make a positive contribution to the promotion of biodiversity. However, where its habitats overlap with human land uses, it often causes conflicts. In order to limit damage and conflicts, a management concept has been developed in accordance with Art. 28d of the Nature Conservation Act.
In winter 2017/2018, all beaver territories in Liechtenstein were mapped systematically for the first time. The results are available in the form of a short report.
