Persons who reach the age of 11 in the year of the examination are admitted to the examination (FischV Art. 5 Para. 3a). Upon reaching the age of 12, they can then acquire a fishing license after passing the examination (FischV Art. 7 Para. 1). In addition, unaccompanied fishing is only permitted from the age of 14 (FischV Art. 7 Para. 2). Due to the examination results of the very young participants in recent years and the very demanding examination, it is recommended that you only take the examination at the age of 14.

According to the Fishing Ordinance (FischV), the acquisition of a fishing license requires proof of successful completion of a fishing examination.

The fishing exam takes place once a year in the fall. The exact dates are announced in an official announcement in June in the electronic official gazette (www.amtsblatt.llv.li). Three course evenings are organized to prepare for the exam. Various written documents on the topics

  • Nature and Environmental Protection (water and fish science),
  • Fishing in accordance with the law and conservation measures and
  • Fishing law

is handed in. There is also a questionnaire with around 300 questions with the corresponding clues to the correct answer

The examination is written. For each question, the correct answer must be ticked out of three possible answers. 90% of the answers to 50 questions must be correct in order to pass the exam.

After the exam sheets have been evaluated, each participant will be informed in writing whether they have passed the exam.

In principle, no results will be announced on the evening of the exam.

The examination fee is based on the applicable fee regulations. The examination documents will be invoiced separately.

Registrations must be sent to the Office of Environment by e-mail to info.au@llv.li using the registration form. The registration deadline of August 14, 2024 must be observed. Late registrations will not be considered. The number of participants is limited to 40 people.
