Travel document was lost

In Germany

If a travel document is lost, a notice of loss must be submitted to the Migration and Passport Office in Vaduz or to the national police for CHF 20.00. A new travel document can only be applied for once this has been received

Once a notice of loss has been filed, the old document may no longer be used even if it is found again and must be destroyed.

When abroad

If the travel document is lost abroad, this must be reported to the local police station. This report is required, among other things, in order to have a provisional travel document issued by the local Swiss representation for the journey home. Back in Liechtenstein, the loss must be reported to the Migration and Passport Office or the national police. They will issue a loss report for CHF 20.00. Only then can you apply for a new travel document.

Once a loss report has been filed, the old document may no longer be used even if it is found again and must be destroyed.
