Emergency slaughter

Accidental or acutely ill animals that must be quickly redeemed for animal welfare reasons and have a prospect of being fit for human consumption are to be slaughtered on an emergency basis . Such emergency slaughterings are slaughterings that cannot be planned and must be carried out immediately (within hours) (e.g. birth disorders, prolapse uteri, fractures, abomasal displacements).

The slaughterhouse Pilgerbrunnen (Pilgerbrunnen 2, 9473 Gams) is available to Liechtenstein agriculture for emergency slaughtering. The slaughter of sick cattle in other slaughter facilities is prohibited.
