Premiums

premiums

The premiums for compulsory insurance of occupational accidents and diseases are borne by the employer, while those for compulsory non-occupational accident insurance are borne by the insured. The employer deducts the premium share for non-occupational accident insurance from the employee's salary and forwards it to the insurance company.

Premium default

Article 61 of the Accident Insurance Law governs the procedure for late payment of premiums. OUFL insurers are required to send a copy of the first reminder to the Office of Health. The Office of Public Health may then set a deadline for payment of the unpaid premium, after which the government may prohibit the continued employment of the workers, effective immediately.

This deadline is set at 8 weeks after the expiration of the deadline for the first reminder.

Minimum premium

For annual payroll amounts below CHF 10,000, a minimum premium of CHF 100 per insurance class applies.
