Intensive Course German as a Second Language (IK DaZ)

The elementary school as a social institution has an important task in the reception and integration of refugee children. The intensive course German as a Second Language (IK DaZ) is one of the measures to absorb newly arrived children and young people in the school system.

Students from different countries of origin learn in mixed-age groups; the youngest students are 8 and the oldest 17/18 years old. Children who are younger than 8 are immediately placed in a first grade class or kindergarten in their place of residence.

In this course, which lasts 6 to 12 months, the children and young people learn the local language and receive instruction in other school subjects. In addition, they learn a lot about the culture, country and people of Liechtenstein. The IK DaZ is at home at the secondary schools in Triesen.
