What does the vocational baccalaureate (BMS) offer?

The vocational baccalaureate offers learners additional basic educational opportunities in the areas of languages, law and economics, work techniques, and mathematics and science.

Depending on the field of study, instruction is divided into various core subjects (compulsory subjects) and electives, such as:

  • German, French, Italian, English
  • History and political science, history of culture and art
  • Law and economics, business studies
  • Accounting, advertising
  • Mathematics, physics
  • Chemistry, biology
  • Ecology, computer science

Final examination for apprentices 

The vocational baccalaureate (BMS) ends with a separate final examination on at least 5 subjects in oral and written form. The attainment of the vocational baccalaureate is confirmed with a special certificate. If the BMS final exam was not passed, the exam can be repeated eonce. Those who have not passed the final examination are given the opportunity to take the ordinary qualification procedure. The grades of the vocational baccalaureate examination are not counted in this case.
