Hunting law

Hunting is a national right in Liechtenstein. The entire national territory is divided into 18 hunting grounds with sizes between 502 and 1,321 hectares. The hunting right is exercised by hunting communities of at least 4 persons for a period of 8 to 10 years

Aim of the hunt

Hunting essentially pursues three goals:

  • Preservation of species-rich and healthy game populations and their habitats;
  • Preventing damage to forest regeneration and agricultural crops;
  • Guaranteeing sustainable hunting use;

Hunting operation

The hunting societies assume various rights and duties defined in the Hunting Act and in the Hegeverordnung . They use huntable game populations according to a shooting plan established by the government. They assist in wildlife accidents, dispose of animals found dead, and help and advise on wildlife problems. In addition, there are the now indispensable tasks of improving wildlife habitats.
