SOLVIT problem solving network

SOLVIT is a European problem-solving network that for over 10 years has successfully helped citizens and businesses from the 30 EEA member states (27 EU member states plus the three EEA/EFTA states of Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway) to resolve problems arising from the potentially incorrect application of EEA law by authorities in other EEA states.

Mode of operation

SOLVIT is based on a network of SOLVIT centres located in the national administrations or Ministries of each EEA State.

The SOLVIT centre in one's own country is responsible for citizens and companies located there ("home SOLVIT centre"). It first checks whether the problem raised falls within the scope of SOLVIT. If this is confirmed, it ensures that all necessary information is available and enters the case in the SOLVIT online database. The entry is automatically forwarded to the SOLVIT centre of the EEA State in which the problem occurred ("lead SOLVIT centre").
The SOLVIT Lead Centre will inform you within one week whether it accepts the case or not.

SOLVIT has set itself the goal of submitting a solution proposal within a maximum period of ten weeks. Thus SOLVIT offers the probably unique possibility of a fast, free of charge and effective solution of cross-border problems.

Advantages

SOLVIT offers citizens, but also companies, the probably unique opportunity to solve their cross-border problems without lengthy and costly court proceedings. SOLVIT is fast, unbureaucratic and not to forget, for citizens and companies the use of SOLVIT is free of charge.

Successes

With 90% of problems solved, SOLVIT can undoubtedly be described as extremely successful.
