"Künstleratelier" Rom
As part of an exchange project between Liechtenstein and the Canton of St. Gallen, the project partners are making their studios abroad in Berlin and Rome available to each other for certain periods of time. The aim is to promote experiences outside of familiar surroundings, which prove to be useful and fruitful for creative artists time and again. While Liechtenstein grants an artist/cultural practitioner selected by the Canton of St. Gallen the right to use the studio flat of the country of Liechtenstein in Berlin for a limited period of time, the Canton of St. Gallen in turn grants an artist/cultural practitioner selected by Liechtenstein the right to use the St. Gallen studio flat in Rome for a limited period of time.
The cultural promotion programme of the Canton of St. Gallen has been enabling artists to spend time in Rome since 1998. The city with its rich tradition serves as an ideal source of inspiration for artistic creation. The three-room flat on the 5th floor is functionally furnished and is located in the middle of the lively and centrally located San Lorenzo neighborhood. It is not barrier-free and is not suitable for space- or noise-intensive projects. The studio flat is furnished for one to two people (double application for two people). It may only be used by the authorized users for personal use. The keeping of animals is not permitted (landlord's stipulation).
Residency grants are awarded under the auspices of the Office for Culture. If a studio residency is awarded, a monthly grant of CHF 2,000 will be paid for the duration of the residency. The duration of the approved residency must be guaranteed with at least 80% presence on site. The Cultural Promotion of the Canton of St. Gallen is responsible for the organization, furnishing and supervision of the studio flat.
The call for applications for studio residencies takes place every two years in spring. Professional artists and cultural practitioners with Liechtenstein citizenship or who have lived in Liechtenstein for at least five years are invited to apply for a studio space.
