From the age of 17, you will receive an invitation from the Office of Public Health 5 years after your last general check-up.

From the age of 17,women receive an invitation to a gynecological check-up in addition to the general check-up. The invitation is sent out by the Office of Public Health every 2.5 years after the last examination.

Yes, if you are insured under the standard OKP, the health insurance fund will only cover the costs for doctors who are licensed under the OKP (compulsory health insurance). You can find a list at www.lkv.li.

With appropriate supplementary insurance (extended OKP) you have a free choice of doctor. To be on the safe side, ask your health insurance company in advance.

A consultation on this topic is held with men aged 50 and over.

As a result, further steps can be arranged in consultation with the patient, e.g. a referral to a urology specialist. The consultation is free of charge. However, the subsequent examinations are subject to cost sharing.

Early detection of colon carcinoma (bowel cancer)

Preventive examinations for the early detection of colon cancer are offered between the ages of 50 and 69:

Every 10 years (i.e. a maximum of 2x) you can have a colonoscopy (colonoscopy).

Every 2 years you can have your stool tested for occult blood(blood in the stool). If the results are positive, you can go for a colonoscopy.

If close relatives are known to have bowel cancer, the health insurance company will cover the colonoscopy even for younger people.

There is a co-payment for all these examinations.

For women aged 50 and over, the health insurance fund pays for a mammogram every 2.5 years. The following also applies here: if breast cancer is known in close relatives, the health insurance company will cover the corresponding examinations earlier.

The yellow examination folder is automatically sent to you by the Health Office after the birth of your child.
