Mobility management

Mobility management is a tool to promote sustainable transport and reduce car use demand, through changing attitudes and behaviors of road users. Mobility management is based on "soft" measures, such as information, communication, organization of services, and coordination of the activities of different partners. "Soft" measures usually have the effect of increasing the efficiency of "hard" infrastructure measures in urban areas (such as new roads and bike lanes). These mobility management measures (in contrast to "hard" infrastructure measures) do not require extensive financial investments and can have a high cost-benefit factor.

Occupational mobility management deals with the types of transport generated by the activities and location of a company. The aim is to handle these as efficiently as possible and in an environmentally and socially compatible (sustainable) manner.

This requires an active role of the company by implementing these measures. This is done in cooperation with the local communities and the state administration or mobility service providers.

Many commuters move daily across state borders in our region. Added to this is the national commuter traffic in the Alpine Rhine Valley. The consequences are high CO2 emissions, particulate matter and noise pollution. The Interreg project "PEMO" shows what it takes to make the transition to sustainable mobility a success.
