Food Control and Veterinary Office

The Office of Food Control and Veterinary Affairs comprises the departments of Food Control and Consumer Protection and Veterinary Affairs.

Primary tasks of food control are the protection of consumers from food and commodities hazardous to health, ensuring food hygiene and protecting consumers from deceptive food products. The office also has special responsibility for controlling drinking and bathing water, enforcing the Tobacco Prevention Act, and supervising metrology.

The duties of the veterinary service include animal health, animal welfare, control of hygiene in milk production, meat hygiene, supervision of the circulation of veterinary medicines and dog welfare.

High professional competence, future-oriented development and optimal results through constructive control are important concerns for the Office. The quality management system based on ISO 9001 and regular witness audits are important tools in this regard.
