Fire protection - Quality assurance

New buildings and structural or usage-related changes to all buildings and facilities are classified according to quality assurance levels.

Fire protection concepts include protection concepts consisting of coordinated structural, technical and organizational measures. Fire protection must be included in the overall planning for all new buildings, conversions and changes of use, regardless of the type. The fire protection plans must be submitted in quadruplicate - signed by the planner and client at the time of the building application.

When planning and executing extensive or complex construction projects, it is advisable to contact and coordinate with the Office for Building Construction and Spatial Planning (AHR), Building Law and Fire Protection Department, at an early stage. As the responsible fire protection authority, the Office for Building Construction and Spatial Planning generally requires the involvement of a QS officer (fire protection specialist) for QSS 2 buildings and facilities, while the involvement of a QS officer (fire protection expert) is mandatory for QSS 3 and above.

The AHR monitors compliance with the fire protection regulations and checks the fire protection-related concepts and evidence for completeness, comprehensibility and plausibility. It does not draw up any relevant concepts and generally communicates with the QA officer appointed by the client on questions of execution details. The declaration of conformity for fire protection must then be submitted at the end of the project.
