High school

Entrance to high school takes place after completion of the fifth primary school grade. About 25 percent of students per grade attend the Oberschule. The Oberschule is a general education school with different levels of difficulty and comprises grades six to nine. It prepares students in particular for professional life or for transfer to a secondary school. Small classes and individualization allow for a differentiated approach to learners.

The following compulsory subjects are taught at the secondary school: German, mathematics, computer science, realities, English, home economics, textile and technical design, religion and culture, music, visual arts, life skills, project lessons and sports. In addition, a variety of electives are offered, for example Geometric Drawing, Italian, Spanish or French.

Learners with school difficulties are supported within the framework of special-school-assistance-measures or of reinforced special educational measures (Sonderschulung) promoted.

In order to prepare students for the most successful transition from lower secondary school to postsecondary education programs, the 9th grade year is designed to be more individualized. The orientation of the school program to the needs of the individual student is determined in the site meeting between parents, student, and teacher in the spring of the 8th grade.

Through the classroom teacher, all students have a reference person who supports them in career choices and many other areas. Students who successfully complete high school have the option of attending a voluntary-10th-school-year

Curriculum for the Principality of Liechtenstein
