Narcotic-assisted treatment

On November 1, 2019, the amended provisions of the Narcotics Ordinance regarding narcotic-assisted treatment came into force. In Liechtenstein, the Office of Public Health is required to give its consent for each individual patient. For this purpose, the attending physician submits an application for authorization as well as the agreement on substitution treatment between the attending physician and the patient to the Office of Public Health.

The guidelines on narcotic-assisted treatment set out the principles and framework conditions for substitution treatment. Therapeutic responsibility lies with the attending physician. The Office of Public Health is responsible for ensuring compliance with the legal framework.

In accordance with the Narcotics Ordinance Art. 53, the Office of Public Health publishes lists of persons authorized to handle controlled substances.

To make it easier for you to check authorizations to request or prescribe medication for substitution therapy, please add your name to a distribution list (e-mail to: amtsaerztlicherdienst@llv.li ). You will then be informed of any changes in the allocation of authorizations.
