Video identification
Please note: Video identification is only available to people aged 18 and over.
To obtain an eID.li, or to unlock a blocked eID.li or to reset the app's password, you must identify yourself at the Migration and Passport Office. As an alternative to the in-person identification, a video identification can be made, which comprises three steps:
Step 1: Pre-registration
Go to www.videoid-eid.li/ to provide personal data for pre-registration. The video identification that follows in step 2 is subject to a fee (currently 15.00 CHF), payment is made immediately upon completion of the pre-registration.
Please note: If you register for a new eID.li, you must not carry out the pre-registration on the same mobile device on which the eID.li app is installed. If you want to re-activate your eID.li or reset the app's password, this restriction does not apply.
Step 2: Video identification
At the end of the pre-registration, a link is provided for immediate access to the video identification service. You will also receive the link via email in case you don't want to start the video identification immediately.
Please note: The video identification must be done within 6 days after the payment.
Step 3: Wait for activation
The eID.li is usually available the following day, but in exceptional cases it can take up to 5 days. As soon as the eID.li is activated, the eID.li app can be used without restrictions.
