Law
Liechtenstein ratified the Kyoto Protocol in 2004 and thereby entered into a commitment under international law to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 8% compared to 1990. Based on this treaty, a series of resolutions have been passed over the years within the framework of the Conferences of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP) and the Meetings of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (MOP), which must be implemented by the contracting states.
In addition, as an EFTA state, Liechtenstein is an active partner in the European Economic Area (EEA) with the EU, whose legal documents in the area of the internal market consequently also apply to Liechtenstein. This applies in particular to Directive 2003/87/EC.
You will find the most important legal bases at UN and EEA level in the corresponding subfolders "National law" and "International law".
