Land register adjustment

The conventional, "Old Land Register" represented only a provisional land register substitute. Rights and encumbrances, which were founded before the introduction of the property law (SR) on 01.01.1923, were not contained in it with certainty. In addition, it was not in all parts reliable, correct, clear and concise.

The property law required the introduction of the "New Land Register" according to the provisions in the transitional regulations. This was to guarantee the previously not fully guaranteed, secure and reliable determination of real rights. This was done by complete inclusion of the properties with the rights and encumbrances existing on them, as well as by the correct, clear and concise presentation of the entitlements and encumbrances in terms of content.

The introduction of the "New Land Register" presupposed, on the basis of the completed survey, a permissive procedure for the clearing up of ownership relationships, easements and encumbrances, prior and annotations, as well as mortgages. In the process, rights not recorded in the minutes were also to be determined and entered on the basis of public notice. Insignificant entries had to be eliminated and deficiencies in the contractual bases had to be remedied. The cleaning up and introduction of the land register was not to be aimed at for the sake of mere legal regulations, nor only because of the associated improvement in the clarity and reliability of the land register. It was also intended to achieve substantial rationalization benefits, such as simplified land register management through shorter, clearer and more concise entries.

The land register introduction has been completed for the entire country of Liechtenstein.

Details on the land register introduction in the individual municipalities:

Status of land registration:

The land register adjustment has been completed for the whole municipality area. Since December 1, 2004 and August 1, 2007 respectively, the "New Land Register" according to property law has been put into effect in the entire municipality area with all legal effects.

The land register adjustment for the entire municipal area of Schellenberg has been completed. On June 3, 2013 the "new land register" according to property law has been put into effect in the entire municipality area with all legal effects.

The land register adjustment for the entire municipality of Eschen has been completed. On March 26, 2018, the "New Land Register" according to property law has been put into effect in the entire municipal area with all legal effects.
