Special legal requirements apply to road transport companies.

The EEA provisions on licensing and operating as a road transport company apply to the commercial transport of goods with vehicles over 3.5 tons total weight and, in the area of passenger transport, to the commercial use of vehicles with which more than 9 persons (including the driver) can be transported.

The relevant provisions can be found below in the Road Transport Act (STG), LGBl. 2006 No. 185, and the Ordinance on the Licensing and Operation of Road Transport Companies in Passenger and Goods Transport (STUV), LGBl. 2006 No. 259.

For companies with vehicles exceeding the above-mentioned limits, special regulations therefore apply in the following areas:

• Proof of reliability
• Proof of professional aptitude(form for the transport professional examination)
• Proof of financial capacity
• Proof of a Liechtenstein permanent establishment
