Retention of authorization
Legal basis:
-
Art. 23, Art. 26 and Art. 28 of the Act on the Free Movement of Person (PFZG, LGBl. 2009 No. 348) apply to EEA and Swiss nationals
-
Art. 28 of the Act on Foreign Nationals (AuG, LGBl. 2008 No. 11) applies to non-EEA and non-Swiss nationals
Scope of application:
All nationals who spend the majority of their time abroad for education/studies or other reasons and wish to retain their permit in Liechtenstein
Deadlines:
The application must be submitted in full and correctly at least four weeks before the planned stay abroad.
General information:
An application to retain the permit must be submitted if you are staying abroad for the majority of the time (more than six months) and do not wish to lose your permit in Liechtenstein. Persons who pursue an education/study abroad and return to Liechtenstein every day do not have to apply for retention. However, the daily return to Liechtenstein must be confirmed in writing (informally).
