Registration of a replacement vehicle

A replacement vehicle may only be used if the properly registered vehicle is temporarily out of circulation due to repair, conversion, etc. and is later used by the same owner.

The license plates may only be transferred to the replacement vehicle if the owner is in possession of the replacement vehicle registration document, otherwise he is liable to prosecution and the liability insurance company has a right of recourse in the event of a claim.

The replacement vehicle registration card is issued for one month. The replacement vehicle registration document must be returned to the Road Traffic Office immediately upon expiry of its validity.

Please submit the following documents to us:

• Form "Application for the issue of a vehicle registration document for a replacement vehicle"
• Previous vehicle registration document (this remains in the possession of the motor vehicle inspection authority until the replacement vehicle registration document has been returned to the Road Traffic Office)
• The original vehicle documents of the replacement vehicle
