Visas

Requirements for entering Liechtenstein

Switzerland and Liechtenstein generally share the same entry requirements. Therefore regulations for persons requiring visas are largely identical. (cf. Ordinance of 9 December 2008 on the procedure of entry and visa, 152.204). These regulations are, however, subject to alterations based on bilateral or multilateral agreements. Therefore individuals requiring a visa may submit an application to the Swiss representation in their country of residence. The decision on the request lies partly with the Swiss authorities and partly with the Migration and Passport Office in Liechtenstein. To determine whether you require a visa, please visit www.bfm.admin.ch or check the Liechtenstein Law Gazette LGBl. 2008 No 315.

Entering other countries

If you are interested in the entry requirements for other countries, please consult a travel agency or the embassy of the country you plan to enter.

Staying in Liechtenstein

The following link leads to information on the various possibilities for living in Liechtenstein (with or without employment), in particular the different categories of authorization granted by the Migration and Passport Office.

Legalizations

For international transactions, the Government Chancellery legalizes signatures of officials of the National Administration and the courts with signing authority, as well as signatures of municipal mayors and mediators. The type of legalization necessary (apostille or superlegalization) depends on the country in which the document is to be recognized.

In the case of superlegalization, the embassy in Berne is responsible for obtaining the additional legalizations by the responsible consulate of the country in which the document is to be recognized. The embassy charges an administrative fee of 40-80 Swiss francs (depending on the expenditure required) for obtaining legalizations. The then legalized documents are returned with a bill for the total in expenditures.

If you have any questions, please contact the Government Chancellery: Regierungsgebäude, Peter-Kaiser-Platz 1, 9490 Vaduz, phone +423 236 60 36, Fax +423 236 65 97, www.rk.llv.li
