Energy Commission
The Energy Commission advises the government on all energy policy matters. It observes the energy policy environment and technological developments in the energy sector and continuously monitors the measures in accordance with the Energy Efficiency Act with regard to the achievement of their objectives. It is also responsible for the approval and payment of subsidies for demonstration projects and other installations as well as the approval of the purchase and payment of electricity for such projects and installations. The Energy Commission can carry out information and awareness-raising campaigns, particularly with regard to energy-efficient lighting and household appliances.
The Energy Commission is chaired by the member of the government responsible for the Economic Affairs Division and consists of four other members with special expertise in energy policy.
Commission for Energy Market Supervision
The Commission for Energy Market Supervision is a regulatory authority set up by the government. It can take all measures required for market supervision in accordance with state treaty law, in particular EEA law. It also advises the government on fundamental or otherwise significant issues of electricity, natural gas and energy policy.
The Commission consists of five voting members who are appointed by the government for a four-year term. The chairman and deputy chairman are appointed by the government.
Complaints Commission for Administrative Matters
The Appeals Commission for Administrative Matters is responsible for appeals against rulings and decisions in the areas of construction, road traffic, electronic communication and electronic signatures, housing, higher education, public procurement, land register, public register and foundation supervision, the penal system, agriculture, environmental protection and railroads.
It consists of five members and two substitute members.
