National Archives
Welcome to the National Archives!
As guardians of Liechtenstein's memory, our foremost duty is to safeguard the archival records, ensuring legal certainty and preserving the nation's history. We are tasked with collecting and preserving documents that hold legal and historical significance to Liechtenstein. By protecting these records from tampering and verifying their authenticity, we aim to make them perpetually accessible for purposes spanning historical, scientific, political, economic, social, cultural, administrative, and legal fields.

The National Archives advises the government, public administration, parliament, and judiciary on the transfer of records to the National Archives. Documents designated for disposal are assessed for their archival value and are either acquired by the National Archives or discarded. Additionally, we support individuals, as well as associations and organisations, in establishing and maintaining their archives.

In order to make archival records accessible we are dedicated to the description and processing of the archival materials. By organising, indexing and describing these materials, they are made accessible via the archive database. In addition, the National Archives are committed to the preservation of these archives, by ensuring that they remain in good condition for a very long time.
