Theory test
General
Depending on the category, the exam comprises the basic theory section and, for special categories, an additional theory section. The theory tests are taken on the computer. The basic theory can be taken at the earliest one month before reaching the minimum age. A passed theory test is valid indefinitely since 01.01.2021. Persons who already hold a category A, A1, B or B1 driving license do not have to take the basic theory test.
Applicants for a category F learner's license are exempt from the (simplified) basic theory test if they hold a category G license.
The basic theory test for category M is also a simplified test.
Registration and admission to the theory test
To apply for a learner's permit or driver's license, send a completed application form including eye test and emergency aid certificate (exception to the emergency aid certificate: categories M, G and F) to our office. Once the documents have been checked, you will receive the admission card for the theory test by post. You can find a sample photo panel under the following link: Photo sample board.pdf
