Swiss identity card

Swiss nationals residing in Liechtenstein can apply to the Migration and Passport Office for a Swiss identity card (ID card).

For the issuance, a new biometric passport photo in accordance with CH standard, as well as the old identity card (if still valid), are required.

For a first-time issuance, proof of Swiss citizenship must also be provided, for example a certificate of origin, a family certificate, or an entry in the civil status register.

A Swiss passport and the combined offer (passport and ID card) must be ordered via the Swiss Embassy of the Principality of Liechtenstein in Vienna (the consular center responsible for Liechtenstein)

Attention! If you wish to have your biometrics recorded by the Migration Office in St. Gallen, this must be noted accordingly under "Comments" in the online form.
