Conservation of Historic Monuments

Cultural properties bring the past to life and shape the cultural landscape. As part of Liechtenstein's identity, they represent an important element for the image of the country and are a significant factor for the economy and tourism. The conscious treatment of cultural heritage requires the commitment, understanding, and care of everyone. The Department of Monument Preservation at the Office of Cultural Affairs deals with this cultural policy task as a state institution.

Heritage Preservation works in the Principality of Liechtenstein for a "future with a past". It develops future-oriented solutions for the protection, preservation, maintenance and use of cultural assets. In addition, it is committed to a high level of building culture. In doing so, it proceeds from an understanding of monuments that emphasizes not only the architectural and artistic value or the architectural quality and aesthetics of an object or an ensemble, but also the social, economic or technical historical significance.
