Forest Strategy 2030+
The increasing loss of biodiversity, advancing climate change and the lack of natural regeneration, as well as the growing pressure from recreational users, are increasing the challenges facing forests. In order for our forests to maintain their valued and important functions today and in the future, we need forest management that is geared towards near-natural, species-rich, structurally diverse and climate-appropriate forest stands.
The Liechtenstein Forest Strategy 2030+ is based on the Forest Act of 1991 and the Forest Ordinance of 1995 and pursues five main objectives:
- Strengthen the climate fitness of the forest
- Fulfilling society's various demands on the forest in the best possible way
- Preserve and promote the biological diversity of the forest
- Maintain the protective function of the forest in the long term
- Secure the value of the forest for Liechtenstein as a business location
Achieving these goals requires the cooperation of all persons, interest groups and institutions involved with the forest. The Forest Strategy 2030+ serves to better coordinate the different demands on the forest so that jointly developed goals can be achieved in the best possible way. It also helps to improve the public's understanding of the forest ecosystem and near-natural forest management.
