Information on INSPIRE
INSPIRE
In March 2007, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union adopted Directive 2007/2/EC establishing an Infrastructurefor Spatial InformationinEurope(INSPIRE).
The aim of the INSPIRE Directive is to make high-quality spatial data from the authorities of the Member States accessible under uniform conditions to support the formulation, implementation and evaluation of European and national policies. This creates the conditions for forward-looking cross-border environmental protection and nature conservation as well as for monitoring the measures taken and their success.
Due to its EEA membership, Liechtenstein is committed to transposing the INSPIRE Directive into national Legal Division
Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of March 14, 2007 establishing an Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community (INSPIRE) creates the legal framework for the use of geoinformation across national and administrative borders in Europe.
The so-called Implementing Rules form the basis for the development of the infrastructure. Overall, implementing rules have been adopted for INSPIRE in the form of a regulation or decision in the following areas:
- Metadata
- Network services
- Interoperability
- Status of implementation
- Rules for the use of data and services
The accompanying "Technical Guidance" documents, which are of a recommendatory nature and are published on the INSPIRE website, are particularly relevant for the specific technical implementation of the implementing provisions.
