Physical activity-friendly schools can have a significant impact on keeping children healthy. In order to implement effective measures, an inventory was carried out in 2021.

The existing structures at schools are one aspect of this. Ideally, these should be optimized as needed. On the other hand, it is important to motivate teachers but also to support them through targeted further training measures.

Overweight and obesity in children and adolescents

As part of this cross-regional cross-sectional study in Liechtenstein (FL, N = 157) and in the canton of Schwyz (SZ, N = 261), the physical activity behavior of schoolchildren in everyday life was examined using selected indicators.

The study is based on two representative random samples of 5th grade primary school children (FL: 10.4±0.5; SZ: 10.7±0.7 years) and was conducted in the fall of 2012.

It was conducted in 2012 under the direction of Dr. Jürgen Kühnis.
