Fire brigades in Liechtenstein

Each of the 11 municipalities in Liechtenstein maintains a municipal fire department according to the requirements of the fire department law. These are capable of handling even larger operations independently. The Vaduz fire department additionally fulfills the tasks as a base for the whole of Liechtenstein. Five companies in the country have company fire departments that can also be called upon to provide assistance. In total, around 600 men and women perform voluntary service.

The financing of the fire departments is a matter for the municipalities. However, the investments and operating costs of the base are borne by the country. In Liechtenstein, there is no state building insurance and also no compulsory fire department tax.

Nevertheless, Liechtenstein fire departments have a good infrastructure as well as modern and functional vehicles and equipment.
