Naturalization
Naturalization is always a personal matter in which the individual situation of the applicant must be taken into account. For this reason, we have compiled some basic information for you below about naturalization into Liechtenstein national and municipal citizenship law.
Please note in particular the information on the Procedure as the steps described there must be followed.
A person is said to be naturalized if they do not currently have Liechtenstein citizenship and have no ancestors with Liechtenstein citizenship. The person therefore has no connection to Liechtenstein citizenship.
If ancestors with Liechtenstein citizenship exist or are suspected, a so-called registration may be possible. Such a registration is - like naturalization - always a personal matter in which the individual situation of the person making the request must be taken into account. Therefore, please contact us.
The various naturalization procedures as well as the general and procedure-specific requirements and grounds for exclusion for naturalization are set out in the Citizenship Act of 4 January 1934 (BüG), LGBl. 1960 No. 23.
The examination of the requirements and grounds for exclusion takes place as part of the various procedural steps (see procedure for details) with corresponding questions.
According to the Citizenship Act of January 4, 1934 (BüG), LGBl. 1960 No. 23, the following naturalization procedures are available:
- Naturalization under the simplified procedure as a result of marriage and the establishment of a registered partnership
- Naturalization under the simplified procedure due to long-term residence
- Naturalization under the simplified procedure due to statelessness
- Naturalization in the ordinary procedure
You can find a basic overview of the naturalization procedures as well as the general and procedure-specific requirements and grounds for exclusion in the overview of naturalization procedures, requirements and grounds for exclusion.
The examination of a naturalization takes place in the form of the steps described below.
The procedure is mandatory for all naturalization procedures to ensure an identical review process and uniform and fair treatment of all applications.
