Children and young people

The Children and Youth Service is responsible for guaranteeing the state's share of basic services for children and young people. This area is divided into the specialist area of child and youth welfare and the specialist area of support and protection.

  • Child and youth welfare aims to support family systems so that they can meet the needs of children and young people and intervenes where official measures are necessary for the protection/welfare of children and young people.
  • The aim of child and youth support is to promote extracurricular child and youth work. This is done by providing professional support and advice to individuals and organizations and through financial support.
  • Child and youth protection aims to create conditions that protect children and young people from dangers and support them, as well as parents and educational professionals, in dealing with these dangers.
