Secondary school
The Realschule is a challenging and performance-oriented school. It prepares students for demanding vocational apprenticeships, but also for transfer to the upper school of the Gymnasium or a vocational baccalaureate school. It comprises grades six to nine. Approximately 50 percent of pupils are admitted to the Realschule each year.
The following compulsory subjects are taught at the Realschule: German, English, French, Mathematics, Nature and technology, Economy, work, household, Spaces, times, societies, Ethics and religions, Life skills and vocational orientation, Design, Music, Movement and sport, Media and computer science
Integrated into various subjects: Education for sustainable development, Interdisciplinary skills
Lessons are taught by subject teachers. Each class is assigned a teacher for supervision and leadership tasks (class teacher).
In the spring of Year 8, the class teachers of the secondary schools conduct a detailed assessment with all parents and pupils. As part of this assessment, the possible transfer to the upper secondary school as well as the goals with regard to vocational training are discussed and the individual priorities for the 9th grade are determined together. This level is designed more individually in order to prepare the students for the most successful transfer possible.
You can find detailed information on transferring from the Realschule to the Liechtensteinisches Gymnasium here.
After the fourth grade, pupils at the Realschule can attend a vocational baccalaureate school, a business school or a diploma secondary school. There is also the option of attending the voluntary 10th school year.
