The request for renewal of trademark registrations may be filed with the Office of Economic Affairs no earlier than twelve months before the expiration of the validity period. If the request is filed within six months after the expiration of the validity period, the payment of an additional fee will be due.

In both cases, the renewal becomes effective upon the expiration of the previous period of validity.

If amendments to the registration are requested at the same time as the renewal of the registration, they shall be dealt with separately by the Office. A separate fee will be charged.

The Bureau of Intellectual Property within the Office of Economic Affairs shall notify the trademark owner(s) entered in the Register or their representative(s) of the date of expiration and the possibility of renewal at least six months before the expiration date of the registration. No liability shall be assumed for failure to provide such information.
