Driving Digitalisation: Analysis and Trends in EU Law

The Office for Digital Innovation (ODI) continuously monitors developments related to EU digitalisation legislation and relevant programmes with EEA relevance. The goal is to identify new initiatives, legal requirements, and strategic developments in the digital sector at an early stage.

EEA Digitalisation: Effectively Implementing EU Requirements

The ODI ensures the incorporation of EU digitalisation legislation into the EEA Agreement. In this context, it works closely with the EEA Coordination Unit and other relevant offices and departments. It takes into account national framework conditions and represents Liechtenstein’s needs in the incorporation process.

Digitalisation on the Ground: Shaping National Implementation

To ensure effective implementation of EU digitalisation legislation, the ODI works closely with the responsible ministries, offices and departments, as well as relevant actors from business and society. This coordination ensures a practical and smooth implementation.

Digital Enforcement: Taking Responsibility and Providing Oversight

EU digitalisation legislation often affects multiple sectors and must be treated as a cross-cutting issue. As part of the EEA incorporation process, the ODI reviews national responsibilities for enforcement, coordinates the legal assignment of these tasks, and also acts as a supervisory authority in the areas defined by law.

Digital Communication: Creating Clarity and Informing Stakeholders

The ODI ensures transparent and target group-oriented communication — both with the public and with professional audiences. This includes providing information on new legislative acts, programmes, and developments at the EU and EEA levels.

Globally Connected: Representing Liechtenstein’s Digital Interests

Liechtenstein is actively represented by the ODI in EFTA, EU, and other international working groups and committees. In doing so, it advocates for national interests in the field of digitalisation and contributes its expertise to the ongoing development of relevant standards and regulations.
