eID class

Depending on the nationality of a person and the type of identification procedure, the eID.li is assigned to one of three classes.

The eID class is only relevant for cross-border authentication for digital services of other EU/EEA member states, for electronic services of the National Administration, it is not relevant at all. All eID classes are using the same, highly secure technology, the same IT infrastructure and the same eID.li app.

eID class A (registered in-person)

In the eID.li app for class A, In person at the Office is the "registration variant" in the user profile. This means that identification took place on site at the Migration and Passport Office. With an eID.li class A, access to all electronic services of the National Administration as well as those of other EU/EEA member states are possible.

eID class B (nationality: LI)

In the eID.li app for class B, Nationality: LI is the "registration variant" in the user profile. This means that video identification has been carried out and the person has Liechtenstein citizenship. With an eID.li class B, access to all electronic services of the National Administration as well as those of other EU/EEA member states are possible if they accept the level of assertion "substantial" according to eIDAS.

eID class C (nationality: not LI)

In the eID.li app for class C, Nationality: not LI is the "registration variant" in the user profile. This means that video identification has been carried out and the person does not have Liechtenstein citizenship. With an eID.li class C, access to all electronic services of the National Administration is possible, but not to those of other EU/EEA member states.
