EEA origin products

EEA originating products are those that comply with the rules of origin defined in Protocol 4 to the EEA Agreement (EEA Agreement).

When talking about the "free movement of goods", it is the EEA originating goods that can circulate duty-free throughout the EEA. However, border clearance is still required between the EEA/EFTA states among themselves, as well as between the EEA/EFTA states and the EU member states (since the EEA - unlike the EU - is not a customs union).

It should be noted that the EEA Agreement only covers the goods of chapters 25 - 97 of the "Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (HS for short)", i.e. the so-called industrial goods (EEA Art. 8, item 3 a). The entire agricultural sector is therefore not covered by the agreement. Due to the permanent exemption from the application of Protocol 3 decided for Liechtenstein, the entire agricultural sector is handled according to the regulations applicable to the Swiss customs territory (Switzerland and Liechtenstein)
