Day plates

Purpose

If you want to put a safe vehicle on the road for private purposes for just a few days, the day number offers you the opportunity to do so. In addition to transfer journeys, the main focus is on journeys for official inspections prior to registration.

Use of the vehicles

Day plates are only valid in Liechtenstein and Switzerland. A vehicle with day plates may only be used for unpaid journeys and may not be hired out. No more than 8 persons may be in such a vehicle. Vehicles subject to the heavy vehicle charge may not be used to transport goods.

Period of validity/return of day passes

Day passes are issued for a period of validity of 24, 48, 72 or 96 hours. The validity period begins when the permit is issued and the tags are handed in at the counter. After expiry of the validity period, the control plates and the day pass must be returned to us immediately or sent back by post. If daily badges are handed in late, the badge holder is liable for the additional traffic tax for the period from the expiry of validity until the daily badges are returned.

Operational safety

A vehicle that is put on the road with day plates must be safe to operate and meet the technical requirements for road vehicles. Steering, lighting and brakes must function perfectly, the tread depth of the tires must be at least 1.6 mm and the bodywork must not have any defects that are significant for road safety. If the last inspection date is outside the statutory periodicity, the vehicle must undergo a road safety inspection before the day plates are issued. This can be carried out by a Liechtenstein garage using the appropriate form.

Liability insurance

When you purchase a day plate (with the exception of day plates for trailers), you automatically join our collective liability insurance. Any hull insurance must be taken out by the holder himself.
