Civil Protection

The Office for Civil Protection (ABS) is responsible at the national level for protecting the Liechtenstein population from disasters and emergencies. Within the scope of its areas of activity

Natural hazard prevention it plans and coordinates all structural (protective structures), planning (hazard zone plans) and organizational (water and storm defences) measures for protection against gravitational, meteorological and seismic natural hazards on the basis of nationwide hazard maps;

Civil defense it conceives the warning, alerting and evacuation of the population;

Support of rescue and emergency servicesit supports the volunteer rescue and emergency services in the education and training of emergency personnel;

National Economic Supplyit organizes, in association with the Federal Office for National Economic Supply and the municipalities, the supply of the population in situations of shortage and emergency;

Hazard Analysis it advises the government and the municipalities on the design of a coherent security architecture.
