Kindergarten

Kindergarten is the traditional form of preschool education. Children must have reached the age of four by the time they enter kindergarten. Attendance at kindergarten is free of charge. Kindergarten complements and supports the child's education and upbringing in the family. The child's development is promoted holistically. The Curriculum for the Principality of Liechtenstein is binding for the kindergarten. Special emphasis is placed on social education and personality development, language, mathematics, sensory and movement training, musical-rhythmic education and the creative area.

Kindergarten attendance usually lasts two years. For children whose native language is not German, the second year of kindergarten is mandatory.

Registration for kindergarten takes place with enrollment in kindergarten. The enrollment date is announced in each of the national newspapers, in the municipal channel, in the national channel and in the official gazette of the Liechtenstein National Administration (www.amtsblatt.llv.li). In addition, parents will receive an information letter with the enrollment form at the end of February. The form must be completed and returned to the school administration of the municipality of residence by the enrollment deadline in each case.

Learners with school difficulties are supported within the framework of special school measures or reinforced special educational measures (special education).

Further information on kindergarten entry can be found in the brochure "Entry into Kindergarten - Information for Parents."
