EFTA Convention

Liechtenstein has been a full member of EFTA since 1991. With the signing of the Vaduz Convention in 2002, the 1960 EFTA Convention was completely revised. The aim was to achieve a level of economic integration among the current EFTA states of Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland that essentially corresponds to the content of the bilateral agreements between Switzerland and the EU.

The EFTA Convention is a modern instrument meeting the needs of international economic relations. It has a dynamic character; this means that the Convention is regularly adapted to take account of developments in bilateral relations between Switzerland and the EU and within the EEA.
