Compensation for damages

Compensation for financial losses and compensation for non-material losses

Persons who have suffered damage as a result of a criminal offense and can credibly demonstrate that they have received no or insufficient benefits from third parties (perpetrators, insurance companies, etc.) can apply for compensation and/or compensation for non-material damage. Compensation for financial loss depends on the financial situation of the applicant, in contrast to compensation for non-material damage.

The application for compensation/compensation for non-material damage must be submitted to the Victim Support Office within five years of the crime, otherwise the claim will be forfeited.

If compensation or compensation for non-material damage is awarded, the claims against third parties (perpetrators, insurance companies, etc.) to which the injured person is entitled as a result of the crime are transferred to the state to the extent of the compensation or compensation for non-material damage paid.

The application form is available on the homepage / online counter.
