"Künstleratelier" Berlin
The country of Liechtenstein has had a studio in Berlin since autumn 2006. Since then, local artists and cultural practitioners have been given the opportunity to live and work for several months in Berlin, one of the current centers of contemporary art - particularly in the German-speaking world.
The studio flat is organized, furnished and supervised by the Office for Culture in close cooperation with the Liechtenstein Embassy in Berlin.
Since 2006, various circumstances have led to the studio location changing several times. Since May 2019, the Liechtenstein artist's studio has been located at Mariendorfer Damm 126. The studio flat is around 100 m2 in size, furnished and available all year round. It is not barrier-free and is not suitable for projects requiring a lot of space or noise. The studio flat is furnished for one person (in exceptional cases two persons; double application). It may only be used by the authorized users for personal use. The keeping of animals is not permitted (stipulation of the landlord).
Residency grants are awarded under the auspices of the Office for Culture. If a studio residency is awarded, a monthly grant of CHF 2,000 is paid for the duration of the residency. The awarded residency period of three or six months must be guaranteed with at least 80% presence on site. At the end of the studio residency, it is expected that it will be presented in an appropriate manner in Liechtenstein.
The call for applications for studio residencies in the following year is published in spring. Professional artists and cultural practitioners with Liechtenstein citizenship or who have lived in Liechtenstein for at least five years are invited to apply for a studio residency.
