Firing control
Combustion control contributes to the protection of people, animals and plants and protects the soil and Air from harmful or annoying pollution. Well-maintained and properly operated systems protect the environment and the budget of system owners.
In accordance with Art. 14 Para. 1 LRV, oil and gas firing systems over 1,000 kW are inspected annually by the combustion inspectors in accordance with Art. 70 of the Environmental Protection Act.
Oil and gas-fired installations over 1,000 kW are tested annually by the Office of Environment or a measuring institute commissioned in accordance with Art. 13 Para. 1 in accordance with Art. 14 Para. 2 LRV
Currently, single-room heating systems such as fireplaces or stoves are only inspected as part of chimney sweeping work. Central wood heating systems, such as pellet, wood chip, or log heating systems, on the other hand, will be recorded and assessed in terms of their state of the art as part of a four-year campaign starting in 2026. From 2026, the conditions for the periodic measurement of residual wood-burning systems up to 70 kW will also change. More detailed information on this campaign and the changes that will apply from 2026 can be found in the inspection guidelines for boilers and residual wood-burning systems up to 70 kW.
Wood-fired furnaces over 70 kW and residual wood furnaces are inspected every 3 years by the Office of Environment or a measuring institute commissioned in accordance with Art. 13 Para. 1 in accordance with Art. 14 Para. 2 LRV
The controls and measurements are carried out in accordance with the enforcement recommendations of the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN).
In order to avoid excessive emissions in the vicinity of combustion plants, the chimneys belonging to the combustion plant must comply with the chimney recommendations of the FOEN.
The Subdivison Energy of the Principality of Liechtenstein provides information on its website energy bundle about subsidies for energy-efficient construction and renovations.
Smouldering wood fires don't have to be. With the right firing method, namely firing from above, fine dust emissions can be significantly reduced. The environment, your health and your neighbors will thank you for it.
The homepage fairFEUERN of the cantons of Eastern Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein explains how the method works in detail. The Office of Environment and the chimney sweeps will be happy to answer any questions.
